AAA to hold its first public open evening

The newly-formed Athenaeum Astronomy Association will be holding its first public event in January, to promote the organisation and attract new members.

This will take the form of an open evening at Bury St Edmunds' famous Athenaeum Subscription Rooms on Angel Hill, site of the Victorian observatory which the AAA aims to restore to public use.

7pm Introduction to the evening - (Dr Richard Young, AAA founder and Director)
7.10pm Presentation: An Introduction to the Night Sky - (Brian Shepherd, AAA member)
7.55pm Interval 1 - (refreshments, networking, displays)
8.15pm Presentation: An Introduction to Simple Astrophotography (David Murton, Chairman, Orwell Astronomical Society)
9pm Interval 2 - (refreshments, networking, displays)
9.20pm Plenary session: all about the AAA (a conversation led by Marian Shaw, AAA Secretary)
